The first of the New Moon trailers debuted at MTV Movie Awards this past weekend. Especially intriguing in the trailer is watching Jacob (Taylor Lautner) morph into a wolf.
Though typically not my genre of "literature," I've always had a fascination with vampires, thanks to Anne Rice..and then Buffy (greatest show EVER), Moonlight, True Blood, now Twilight and possibly even CW's upcoming TV show: Vampire Diaries (pilot posted below).
Aside from my love of vampires, I missed the Harry Potter bandwagon and wanted share in America's love for young adult books. Water cooler talk just isn't the same when you can't participate. So The Twilight Saga it is.
While I generally enjoy the story lines, the writing and characters leave much to be desired. Never in my adult life have I been able to finish a 400-page book in a mere three nights, but the Twilight series allows for such reading. Typically while reading, I'll come across a sentence that I'll have to re-read or ponder the insight of the passage, but no such instances occur with the "literary genius" that is Stephanie Meyer. I mostly enjoy books that have a lot of character development (e.g. A Confederacy of Dunces) as I enjoy the build-up and relating to characters in books. However, Stephanie Meyer's characters are all too whiny, a bit too tragic and whole-lot-of fatalistic for my taste.
Will someone, I don't care whether vampire or werewolf, just eat Bella already?????
Vampire Diaries Pilot:
Even more annoying than Bella, is Kristin Stewart herself! Did you see her on the movie awards? Was she drunk???

AH! I read the Vampire Diaries in Jr. High. - that's an old memory! I can't believe they are making them into a series!
