X-Men Origins: Wolverine Trailer HD

20th Century Fox has finally revealed the trailer for the long-awaited Wolverine movie.  This prequel, which focuses on Wolverine's past, is set to be released on May 1, 2009.  The film will also introduce "Gambit," played by Friday Night Light's Taylor Kitsch and "Deadpool", played by Ryan Reynolds.  Liev Shreiber, Will.i.am, Danny Houston, Dominic Monaghan, Daniel Henney and Lynn Collins also star in the next X-Men installment.

I originally wasn't excited about this movie, as Wolverine is one of my least favorite X-Men characters, but the trailer looks much more interesting than I anticipated.  Couple the plot line with the addition of the new characters and now I'm actually excited for its release.

Hamster On A Piano...Eating Popcorn

This is so ridiculous it's funny.  I'm not a fan of the furry rodents, but I'd happily have this little guy as a pet.  Ali:  this popcorn-eating furball is much cooler than your loud, wheel-spinning, wood chip spewing, cheek-filler.  Thanks to Jen and David for the tip. 

Auto Bailout Ad: You wouldn't buy our shitty cars...

Amazing how accurate this humorous ad is.  Detroit thought it was invincible and didn't need to cater to what consumers needed and wanted.  Detroit ignored the trend towards smaller, economical cars and continued to produce wasteful large cars, SUVs and trucks modeled after those used in the armed forces.  Now the government is expected to bailout the Big Three.  While I'm all for preserving the American Auto Industry, there need to be conditions on the bailout to protect the industry and the American people.

Obamawatch is in full effect.  Each week we'll check in with Obama to see what he's up to.  Here, Obama is decorating his Christmas tree with his favorite ornament.  Out the window, this ornament can see Chicago from its house.

Stop With The "LOL," Already!!!

It's time for the abbreviation "LOL" to die.  Something that started out so innocently has now taken over, not only the written language, but the spoken language, as well.  I have friends who cannot start or finish any sentence without the use of "LOL."  Really, guys?  Really?  Are you really laughing out loud?  I bet 9 times out of 10, you're not.  And why is it necessary to actually say LOL?  If I'm in your presence, I'll notice that you're laughing.  Sure, we sometimes say, "ha ha" out loud, but that's for a dramatic, sarcastic effect.  I find the LOL abbreviation to be misleading.

"Initialisms," as a whole, are out of control thanks mostly in part to text messaging.  "ROTFL," "LMFAO," etc. are bringing our language to an entirely new low.  Friends of mine, who are teachers, tell me stories of how the majority of their students actually turn in reports written entirely in text messaging language.  It's no wonder that so many other countries' education systems are now greater than our own.  We don't even have a grasp on our own language.  I say blame it on "LOL."

New Yorker Cover: Obama Vets "First Bitch" Candidates

New Yorker cartoonist, Barry Blitt, who was behind the controversial cover depicting the Obamas as terrorists, creates yet another Obama cover.  In this cover, Obama is carefully interviewing various breeds of dogs for "First Bitch."

Qualifications?

• Hypoallergenic
• Not a girlie-dog

Sounds like he wants a butch, gay dog.  Or possibly a poodle in a flannel, I'm not sure.
